土の格子構造の上に、溶ける土板を置いて焼成した作品です。
重力によって波打つ表面からは「土が溶けた痕跡」を感じられます。

波多野は、愛知県瀬戸市において、原土の採集から精製に至るまでの一連の工程を自らの手で行っています。

ガラスの原料となる珪砂などを多く含む特異な原土を、独自に調合して制作に用いています。

焼成の際には、ガラスのように溶け出してしまうほど繊細な特性をもつ土ですが、波多野はそのわずかな変化を見極めながら制作を進めています。

土が熔化してゆく造形は、彼の背景でもある瀬戸の地質の記録であると同時に、自身の感覚と交わることで生まれた新たなかたちといえるでしょう。
